PCC's TLCC Web Site Wins 2nd Place in National Competition 3/15/02: Polk Community College’s Teaching, Learning, Computing Center (TLCC) web site recently won second place in the 2001 Learning Support Centers In Higher Education (LSCHE) Web Site competition that includes both community colleges and universities. The TLCC staff studied nearly two pages of criteria on the LSCHE website to be eligible for the competition. Courtlann Dixon is the Director of Academic Support Services who applied for the contest. “It was really great, I really did feel that we were going to win…we were thrilled,” said Courtlann. She gives special thanks to the TLCC staff, and in particular, Gerry Hubbs, the creator of the site. Gerry Hubbs is the TLCC Testing Administrator and the “Web Master.” Gerry started ten years ago as a PCC student worker, even before the testing and computer labs merged to form the TLCC. Everyone sends her information and ideas for the web site via e-mail, and she compiles pictures and clip art, etc. for the site. When Gerry heard the good news she exclaimed, “I just can't believe it!” As second place winners they will receive an Excellence Award plaque and are entitled to display on their web site the 2001 award icon designed by the LSCHE Web Master.
