Foundation's Major Gifts Campaign Launched With Successful First Phase
Over 88 Percent Of PCC's Family (Faculty & Staff) Made A Contribution

1/5/02: As the curtain fell on 2001 and rose on a new year, the Polk Community College Foundation, Inc. made a transition from one phase of its Major Gifts Campaign to another.

Some 88 percent of PCC's faculty and staff contributed to the Major Gifts Campaign. Following thSylvester Little, Lamar Middleton, Dorothy Smith and Barbie Henrye very successful completion of the internal portion of the campaign, the fundraising efforts will turn its focus on the community.

Four PCC employees led the internal or Family Campaign. Barbie Henry, Sylvester Little, Lamar Middleton and Dorothy Smith were chosen because they are veteran employees who are respected and admired and have been active in other community events.

They organized an army of volunteers consisting of 14 vice chairs and 50 team captains. After receiving training from the PCC Foundation staff, these 68 volunteers fanned out across two campuses and solicited all of PCC's full time employees. When the Family Campaign was completed, 247 of PCC's 281 full time employees contributed to the Major Gifts Campaign known as Partners in Securing Futures. Although the Family Campaign is complete, individual contributions are still being received and the level of participation continues to increase.

In a college-wide assembly, PCC President J. LThe Major Gifts Campaign logoarry Durrence praised the efforts of PCC's faculty and staff. "You've done your part! Over 87 percent of you made a commitment and gave to the Partners in Securing Futures Campaign. You believe in the future of Polk Community College so strongly that in a year when you didn't get pay raises you decided to invest in this campaign to provide for the education and economic needs of Polk County. That message is going to be heard throughout the county."

"It will open doors to our citizens and brighten their tomorrows. I appreciate all the contributions made to the Family Campaign - both the monetary commitments and the amount of time spent by the volunteers and the Foundation staff," Ryan said. "PCC's family launched us on a successful beginning to our Major Gifts Campaign! I want to express my personal thanks to everyone responsible for this great achievement."
