Music, Food & Fashion Featured During PCC's African-American History Month

Term 2 - 2002:  Polk Community College will celebrate African-American History Month with music, food and fashion. The following one-hour events are free and open to the public:

  • Feb. 13, noon- Soul Food and Music in the courtyard of LAC building, Lakeland campus. Students will sample tastes and sounds during a festive day of soul food and fun.

    • Feb. 15, 10 a.m. LLC-2188, Lakeland campus and noon in WFA Theatre, Winter Haven campus - The Sisters of Soul concert featuring recording artist Tanya Jones-Wilborn, and high school senior Susan Andrina Brown.

  • Feb. 20, noon- Soul Food and Music along the walkway of the WLR building, Winter Haven campus. Students will sample tastes and sounds during a festive day of soul food and fun.

    • Feb. 27, noon- A Blast from the Past FashDerek Menchanion Show put on by the Cultural Academic Vocational Experience Club (CAVE) will be held in the PCC Fine Arts Theatre on the Winter Haven campus.

  • Feb. 28, 9:30 a.m. LLC-2188, Lakeland campus and 12:30 p.m. in WFA Theatre, Winter Haven campus- Sounds of a Cello featuring cellist and visionary artist Derek Menchan. Derek (in photo to right) is a native of Winter Haven and a PCC graduate.
