Four PCC PTK Students are Selected
To the All-Florida Academic Team
04/16/2008: Four Polk
Community College students, who are members of Phi Theta Kappa
(PTK) Honor Society, were named to the PTK All-Florida Academic
Team. The PCC students named to the 1st Team were: Stefanie
Wesch of Winter Haven and Chasya Wiseman of New
Holland, Ohio. Named to the 2nd Team were Evan Gill of
Davenport and Chelo van Leeuwaarde of Winter Haven.
Each year, an
All-Florida Academic Team is named to recognize outstanding
students in Florida’s community colleges. Students are chosen
based on their exceptional academic achievement, leadership and
service to the community.
The 104-member team
is composed of students who were nominated by their respective
colleges to the national All-USA Academic Team competition
sponsored by USA Today and PTK.
The academic team members were
honored at a luncheon on April 15, hosted by Florida Community
Colleges Chancellor Will Holcombe. At the luncheon, each student
was presented with an All-Florida Academic Team medallion. They
were also recognized by the Florida Legislature and other state
leaders during their visit to the Capitol.
