Ribbon Cutting & Open House Held on March 11 at PCC's New Center
Additional
details about the Airside Center
03/13/2008: Officials
and business people from Lakeland and Polk County joined Polk
Community College faculty and staff in celebrating the opening of
PCC's new Airside Center.
PCC
and the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting
and Open House on March 11 at the 25,000-square-feet facility
located at 3515 Aviation Drive,
off of W. Pipkin Road on the south side of Lakeland Linder
Airport.
The Airside
Center is the new home of PCC’s Corporate College and three Allied
Health programs: Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular
Technology and Radiologic Technology. These three programs form a
Medical Imaging Complex. PCC’s modern educational imaging complex
is one of a limited number in the state of Florida. Each lab is
outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and each lab looks and
works like medical facilities that students will encounter in
hospitals and medical clinics.
The afternoon event
began with
brief remarks by
PCC student Jamie Compton, PCC President Eileen Holden,
Lakeland Mayor Buddy Fletcher and Chamber President Tim Campbell.
Theses officials participated in the ribbon cutting along with
Chair of
PCC's District
Board of Trustees
Dr.
Neriah Roberts, Vice Chair Twyla G. Ely, Trustee Rick Garcia,
Trustee Gregory Littleton and Trustee Cindy Ross.
The event also featured tours of the Airside Center and light
refreshments.
