First look for
some background information on your topic
This
"background check" usually reveals good keywords and
subject headings that you can use to find more specific sources
of information on your topic in books and periodical articles.
You may also find this helps you to focus your topic area and
helps you to identify sources that you may have otherwise overlooked.
Try searching for "Taliban" or "Afghanistan" Islam Fundamentalism." Remember to write down any names, keywords, dates, or other subject headings you might want to use in later searches. Taliban is often spelled "Taleban."

Use LinccSearch to locate circulating books on this topic at PCC. In addition to using the search term Taliban, which is just one small movement, look for the broader topic of Islamic fundamentalism.

Finding magazine, journal, and newspaper articles.
You are probably familiar with EbscoHost which provides full-text articles from magazines, newspapers and scholarly journals.
A new resource has recently been added to the computers in the Library called Academic Universe. By clicking on News you can access news articles from today's newspapers and as far back as 20 years. Using these resources, you should have no problem gathering enough information for your assignment.
Any number of websites are
available on this topic on the Internet. Consider the source of
the information before using the information. If you have any
question at all about the quality of the information you find
on a website, consult the PCC "How
To" page on
evaluation of information found on the Internet.
