Photocopying & Computer Printing Policies:  PCC Prints

What is PCC Prints?

PCC Prints refers to the implementation of a new fee-based document reproduction system for all users of the libraries and TLCCs on all campuses.
The new printing system is comprised of 4 simple components:

  1. Public access Library or TLCC computers

  2. Software to temporarily store and manage print jobs

  3. Print Release Stations

  4. Printers

How will I benefit from this system?

There are three primary benefits to be achieved from PCC Prints:

ü       Expanded Functionality - Full color printing and photocopying and large paper size formats will be available at both libraries and TLCCs.

ü       Improved Services – The cost of providing printing services has risen each year as have the numbers of prints made and users of the services.  These factors have seriously strained the budget of the units offering student printing as a service.  Through cost recovery, our libraries and TLCCs can upgrade and sustain high-quality computing and photocopy services.

ü       Reduced Waste – Each day, thousands of sheets of paper are printed at the libraries and TLCCs on the Lakeland and Winter Haven campuses.  As returning students will recognize, a large percentage of these prints end up in the trash bins when people just print and leave.  This waste of paper and toner negatively impacts the environment.

What are the charges for printing and photocopying?

Black & White laser computer print or black & white photocopy – 10 ¢ per page

Color laser computer print or color photocopy - 50 ¢ per page

11” X 17” paper size - 20 ¢ per page B & W or $1.00 per page color

How will I pay for printing?

There are two options for paying for printing and photocopying:

  1. Pay by inserting coins or bills into a coin/bill acceptor.

  2. Use a magnetic stripe vend card.  Cards can be purchased on campus for this purpose.  They will cost $1.00 per card.  Cardholders can add money value to their cards at either library or TLCC.  Swipe your card to print or copy.  Cards are debited when prints or photocopies are made.

When will these charges begin?

The fee-based computer printing and photocopying policy will take effect on Monday, August 15, 2005.

How does the printing system work?

Using the new print system is easy!  Simply follow these steps:

  1. Select the print command in the application you are using.

  2. When prompted, name your print job.

  3. Your print job will be electronically stored on the Print Release Station.

  4. At the Print Release Station, select only those jobs you want to print.

How do I know the cost of each print job?

There are two ways to determine the cost of a print job.

ü       At the Computer – You may want to use the “Print Preview” option available on most programs.  “Print Preview” will allow you to view document formatting, provide you with a page count, and will allow you to define which pages you would like to print.

ü       At the Computer – When you click the print command at the computer, the printing management software will advise you as to how many pages there are and how much it will cost.

ü       Print Release Station – Use the mouse to select your print job from the displayed list.  The number of sheets and the cost of the job will be displayed.
