Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

A. Procedure and forms for applying for this program:
1. Forms may be obtained in the Financial Aid Office or online at http://fafsa.ed.gov.
2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and mail.

B. Student eligibility standards:
1. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
2. Must demonstrate exceptional financial need.
3. Must meet Financial Aid "Standards of Progress".
4. Must be an undergraduate student.
5. Must be accepted for enrollment at Polk Community College.
6. Must demonstrate evidence of academic or creative promise.
7. Must show that without this aid the student would not be able
to complete his or her studies.
8. Have not defaulted on any previous aid.

C. Criteria for selecting grant recipients:
1. Selection is based on the greatest need and lower family contribution.
2. Applications must be received by May 15th for the next academic year.
3. Priority given to FEDERAL PELL GRANT recipients.

D. Criteria for determining the amount of the award:
1. Need analysis report.
Aid may not exceed one-half of aid previously granted. The award is a
Non-repayable Federal award. Polk receives very few of these each year. They are awarded to a few students with the greatest need and lowest family contribution.
