BSC1930 - Biological Issues
Welcome to Biological Issues! This course will survey a host of topics that the student is likely to encounter in his or her lifetime. The focus of this course is to make better educated decision makers out of college graduates with respect to issues that involve biology and each and everyone of us. From medical topics to zenophobia, we will explore these issues through group participation, public discourse, and individual exploration of topics.
This course will function unlike traditional lecture courses. Students can expect to be the center of focus in this learner-centered classroom. Students will not be passive but active in class and will have an evaluation of their performance at the end of each class. Class participation is mandatory and non-participants will receive a failing grade for the course. Reading the required reading material before class is a must, failing to do so will be noted and will result in a low participation grade. Please read the syllabus carefully prior to committing to this course.
