Quality Enhancement Plan - Math: The Bridge to Success

“The focus of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) at Polk State College validates our commitment to increasing student success in mathematics through innovative, applied learning experiences delivered in a supportive environment. After reviewing several years of data, a broad-based group of faculty and staff determined that MAT 1033, Intermediate Algebra, was a major obstacle for students to complete their degree programs. As a result, a five-year research-based plan was developed that targets success, retention, and persistence in mathematics courses. Students will experience new modes of curriculum delivery through active and engaging activities that are outcomes-based. Included in our QEP is a comprehensive assessment plan that will serve as the focus for our efforts to ensure increased and sustained improvement in student learning. I am confident that our QEP will be an important vehicle in transforming our student success and graduation rates at Polk State College!”
