 There are two Collegiate Charter High Schools, PCC Collegiate at the Lakeland PCC campus and Chain of Lakes Collegiate at the Winter Haven PCC campus. The purpose of the schools is to provide academic and technical education for serious high school juniors and seniors who desire to undertake college-level study.   Students are offered a program of high school and college courses to meet the requirements for a standard Florida high school diploma with the opportunity to take dual-enrolled courses at PCC.  In addition to the AS, AAS, or AA degree programs, courses that lead to industry certification specific to criminal justice, computer programming and infrastructure, and allied health are also available to CHS/COL students. There is no charge to the student and transportation is available for most areas of Polk County.  Additional information, and campus directions are available on the college website  www.polk.edu  or by calling 863-298-6800 or 863-669-2322.

EDUCATION PRINCIPLES OF PCC COLLEGIATE PROGRAMS

Four essential educational principles provide the foundation on which the charter school is based:

1.   Students will develop the capacity to think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively through a mastery of academic courses with rigorous academic emphasis;

2.   Students will learn about themselves, their heritage, and the interdependent world through academic courses;

3.   Students will prepare for further education and work force through elective, academic and technical courses;

4.   Students will learn to fulfill their civic obligations through school and community service.
