INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Information Technology provides numerous services that support the mission of the College. Included in Information Technology are all library resources and learning support services for students, faculty and staff at PCC. The Library and the Teaching/Learning/Computing Center (TLCC) on each campus provide these services. Knowledgeable and helpful staff are available at each location. Hours of operation are announced in the "Orange and Green," the official publication for PCC students.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
STUDENT ACTIVITIES BOARD
The Student Activities Board (SAB) is the official representative
of Polk Community College Students. The SAB has three main responsibilities:
acting as a liaison between students and administrators, providing
a program of activities for the College, and representing PCC
students in state organizations of college students.
The SAB schedules college activities and events providing social
outlets for students. The Board is a member of the Florida Junior/Community
Colleges Student Government Association and represents PCC on
the district and state level.
The SAB is comprised of nine students from each campus who are
appointed at the beginning of each fall term (Term I). Students
not appointed as voting members of the SAB may participate on
a volunteer basis. Meeting times are announced each term. All
students are invited to attend.
The SAB is funded by the Student Activities Fee, making it possible
to present programs free of charge to PCC students. The SAB administers
the Activities budget under the supervision of the Director of
Student Support Services.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND ATHLETICS
The Student Activities and Athletics Office is located in the Student Center on the Winter Haven Campus. The Student Activities Office is located in Financial Aid on the Lakeland Campus. The Student Activities Coordinator is available on the Lakeland campus on scheduled days. The staff assists students wanting information on athletics, activities, clubs, or other types of student involvement.
STUDENT CENTER
The Student Center is where students gather to socialize and
study. Food services are also available.
In Winter Haven, the Student Center is located on the east side
of the campus, between the Science and Fine Arts Buildings.

on the first floor of the LAC building.
STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
Many active clubs and organizations are available at PCC to suit your particular interest:
PHI THETA KAPPA
PCC sponsors a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the official national honor society for community and junior college students. The purpose of the PCC Chapter, Xi Pi, an active student organization on campus, is encouraging scholarship, developing leadership, providing service to the College, and promoting fellowship among members. Interested students should consult an Advisor for membership requirements.
PUBLICATIONS
"Orange & Green," the official college information
and announcement publication, is distributed every other week.
Catalogs, term schedule booklets, and other College publications
are produced when appropriate.
STUDENT NEWSPAPER
The PCC Press is Polk Community College's student newspaper.
The publication is written, edited, and produced by PCC students.

II, and Journalistic Writing - all three credit hour courses.
MUSIC
Polk Community College provides a variety of opportunities for students wishing to participate in ensemble music organizations, both vocal and instrumental. for other schools in Florida. The Health Center on the Winter
Haven Campus seats 2,600 adults in an air-conditioned, tartan-playing
surface facility. The baseball field is built to professional
specifications. The softball team plays at the state-of-the-art
Diamondplex.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
HEALTH SERVICES
No hospital facilities are provided by the College. In the event of an accident or illness, the parents and/or family doctor are notified immediately if possible. Note: The College is not, expressed or implied, responsible for accidents, nor expense incurred resulting from an accident; therefore, students are required to assume responsibility for their own medical expenses.
INSURANCE
Since students are required to assume responsibility for their own medical expenses, the College has made arrangements for you to purchase a comprehensive health insurance plan at lower group rates. Information and applications for coverage are available in the Student Activities and Athletics Office in the Student Center. Students in Allied Health programs are encouraged to purchase this insurance if they have no other coverage.
RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS
Polk Community College has a cross-enrollment plan with Florida
Southern College (FSC) to provide our students with the opportunity
of participating in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
offered through FSC's Department of Military Science. Students
take their class work on the PCC or FSC campus. Credit earned
in these courses is regarded as part of your permanent record
at PCC. There is no additional cost.
Students taking ROTC courses during their first two years of college
incur no service obligation. Qualifying students can apply for
two and three year Army ROTC scholarships paying tuition, books,
materials, fees, and a $100 stipend per month. Two year scholarships
winners receive free room and board if they transfer to Florida
Southern College for their junior and senior years.
Students interested in ROTC programs should enroll in an Association
in Arts program leading to a degree in their chosen field.
LOST AND FOUND
Return found items, and check for lost items at the information desks in Student Services on both campuses.
STUDENT HOUSING
Dormitories, housing, and housing referrals are not provided by the College.
