Polk State College Invites Public to Winter Haven Open House
October 20, 2011 - Anyone interested in attending Polk State College is invited to an Open House at Polk State’s Winter Haven campus from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 27.
The event will be a one-stop shop, where attendees will learn about the College’s academic programs and meet with faculty members; learn about student clubs and activities; and get help with admissions, financial aid and advising. Placement testing will also be available.
Dr. Saul Reyes, dean of student services at the Winter Haven campus, suggests that the event is well-suited for a diverse audience: “From the high school student to parents of a prospective student to adults who are planning to make the plunge by returning to school – this event is the perfect place to learn about options at Polk.”
Matina Wagner, coordinator of enrollment and outreach, said the one-stop shop format will make it easy for attendees to complete the admissions process.
“Attendees will be able to get into college that night,” she said.
A three-credit-hour scholarship will be given away during the event, and there will also be free food available. Parking is also free.
Polk State College’s Winter Haven campus is located at 999 Ave. H N.E. The Open House event will take place in the Student Center, located on the north end of the campus.
