11 PSC Students Receive Awards in Regional Academic Competition
Eleven students from Polk State College’s Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School recently won awards in a regional academic contest staged by the Health Occupations Students of America of HOSA. PSC competed against students from the HOSA’s Region IV, which is made up of schools in Hillsborough, Polk, Pinellas, Sumter and Pasco counties.
Here are the award winners:
Liazahira Martinez-Rodriguez of Davenport won first place in the Veterinarian Assistance Skills category.
Ashlee Jones of Winter Haven and Peyton Andress of Lake Wales won third place in the Career Display Board Team - Nurse Practitioner category.
Christina Miller of Babson Park, Ronnie Jackson of Winter Haven, Bonnie Johnson of Winter Haven and Ian Murphy of Kissimmee finished third in the HOSA Bowl Team category.
Kristy O'Berry of Winter Haven and Barbara Pflug of Winter Haven finished third in the Forensic Science Team category.
Joshua Freeman of Winter Haven won fourth place honors in the Medical Spelling category.
Vincent Nguyen of Winter Haven finished fifth in the Medical Math category.
Many of these students qualified for the state HOSA competition, which will be held in Orlando in June.
