Fall Registration at Polk State in High Gear
June 23, 2011 - Open registration for the fall 2011 term at Polk State College is in high gear, according to registrar Kathy Bucklew. Registration for the fall term is now open, with dual enrollment and early admission registration beginning June 27.
According to Dr. Ken Ross, Vice President of Academic and Student Services at Polk State College, a variety of changes have been made in the last year to enhance the registration experience for students.
Those changes, many implemented by Bucklew and her team, include steps taken to minimize waiting in line and to expand the options available to registering students.
In addition to traditional, “face-to-face” classes, Polk State also has an increasing number of classes delivered fully online, as well as hybrids (a blend of online and face-to-face formats).
According to Bucklew, “Returning students can avoid lines entirely by registering online in PASSPORT at polk.edu.”
Bucklew also notes that an orientation session is required for all new degree-seeking students. Orientation sessions are offered Monday-Thursday in Lakeland and Winter Haven. Students may visit the college website at polk.edu or call 863-297-1000 for more information or to schedule an orientation.
Polk State College was founded in 1964 and offers associate’s and bachelor’s degrees from campuses in Winter Haven and Lakeland, as well as centers in Lake Wales and at Lakeland’s Airside Center. Polk State serves almost 20,000 students annually in degree-seeking, non-degree and workforce training programs.
