Bok Academy Hosts Kids at College Summer Program

June 22, 2011 – Bok Academy will host Polk State College’s highly successful Kids at College summer program for 10 days in July.

Polk State College has presented Kids at College for more than 20 years in Winter Haven and Lakeland. The program is designed for students ages 5-14. Classes will include fun and challenging topics such as Abstract Art, Cheerleading 101, Exploring the Rainforest, Munchable Math, Super Sloppy Science, and World Music Drumming.

“This is a great partnership between the Lake Wales Charter Schools and PSC to bring a quality summer enrichment program to our community,” said LWCS Superintendent Jesse Jackson.

Dr. Eileen Holden, President of Polk State College, echoed Jackson's enthusiasm, “We are thrilled with this partnership and the opportunity it represents for the families of this community.”

The program will be held from 8:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, beginning July 11 and ending July 21.

Kids at College will hold parent meetings in the Bok Academy cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 27 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 28. Representatives will answer questions and help parents register students for the program.

Online registration also is open for the program. Information is available at www.polk.edu/kac.

Students may take up to three classes during the session. Each class meets daily for 75 minutes. The cost per class is $50 or $150 for the full 3-class session. For more information about the program, please contact Brenda Bracewell at 863-298-6826 or bbracewell@polk.edu.
