Emergency Notification Information

The administration of Polk State College may find it necessary to close the college in the event of adverse weather conditions or for other unexpected emergencies.

The best place to determine whether Polk State College will be open or closed is to check the Polk State College web site. An announcement about our plans will be posted on this page or linked from this page.

If a storm is threatening and nothing has been posted, please check back again soon. We will make every effort to post an announcement here as soon as a decision has been made.

On campus, students can check Polk State College's closed circuit TV for closing announcements. A recorded announcement about Polk State College's operation will be available by calling Polk State College's main number: (863) 297-1000.  Polk State College has established a special redirect number. This means that if Polk State College loses power after a storm hits, the main phone number will be transferred to another phone off campus and callers will hear an announcement about Polk State College's plans.

Emergency announcements will also be transmitted using the Polk State College Alert system. 

Official closing announcements will be broadcast on:

• Lakeland radio stations:  WONN 1230 AM and WPCV 97.5 FM
• Orlando radion stations: WFLA 540 AM and Real Radio 104.1 FM
• Bay News 9 on cable
• TV stations: channel 8, channel 13, and channel 28.
