By-Law ChangesXi Pi's chapter by-law revisions have been approved by the Phi Theta Kappa international office. As part of the revisions, our chapter's calendar year is now changed to January through December, with elections in mid-November. Please follow this link to read our new by-laws. How To Become A MemberMembership is based primarily upon academic achievement. Students attending Polk Community College who meet the qualifications will be invited to join the Xi Pi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. To be eligible:
Your invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa will include several orientations dates for you to learn more about Xi Pi Chapter, pay your membership fees, and receive your t-shirt. If you are unable to attend an orientation, you may still join by printing, completing, and returning both page 1 and page 2 of the membership application form to faculty advisor Penny Morris on the Lakeland campus. The application must include the total membership fee of 80 dollars in either cash or check. The check should be made out to Polk Community College. MEMBERSHIP FEES AND APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE LISTED IN YOUR INVITATION. Please email Penny Morris with any questions concerning the application process.

Convention NewsRegional Convention: Nov. 14 - 16This year's regional convention was in Pensicola, FL at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Resort. Our chapter was able to drive through the night on the 13th to arrive with sleepy eyes early Friday morning. This year our chapter received 7 awards. President Dr. Eileen Holden won the Distinguished Service Award. Our advisor, Penny Morris won Distinguished Advisor. Our chapter won Most Improved Chapter and Distinguished Chapter. Other awards won include: Grace Speese - Distinguished Officer, James Alcorn - Distinguished Member, and Tram Vu - Honorable Mention for Poetry. Congratulations to all our winners!! Xi Pi ran for exective office for the Florida region, a postion equal to president. Unfortunately, we did not win. For more information on regional convention events, click here. International ConventionThe 2009 International Convention will be held in Grapevine, Texas from April 16 - 18 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center. More information TBA.
