Dr. Eileen HoldenDear Students,

Congratulations on achieving the high level of academic excellence needed for membership in Polk Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.  You now join over a million other scholars throughout the world in fellowship as members of this prestigious international honor society.

The members of our PCC chapter, Xi Pi, truly exemplify the four hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa: Leadership, Fellowship, Scholarship and Service.  I encourage you to become actively involved in the organization so that you can truly benefit from all that your membership has to offer.

As a member of Phi Theta Kappa, you have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills by making a difference in someone else’s life.  You can reach out to others by tutoring students, participating in food drives, visiting with local senior citizens, getting involved in political action movements, helping clean up the environment, and volunteering your time to make our community and our college a better place to live and learn.   You will be asked throughout the year by your chapter officers to “step up to the plate” in service to our college and community.  My advice is to follow the example of your advisors and fellow Xi Pi members and make a genuine commitment to service.  By serving others, you will enjoy the fellowship and satisfaction of working side by side to achieve common goals.

Thank you for choosing Polk Community College to pursue your academic goals and congratulations again on achieving this important milestone. I look forward to seeing you on campus and in the community!

Sincerely,

Eileen Holden
