Admission to
PCC Has Two Avenues
Continuing Education
includes professional development classes, licensure courses,
company-sponsored courses, child care classes, and other similar courses.
These are managed by the
Corporate College. Go directly to
the
Corporate
College
website to review course offerings and course information.
Regular College
Credit
is managed through the Student Services
Department which consists of the Admission,
Registrar, Advising, and Testing Departments. See the steps
below to apply for admission. Student Services offices are
located on the Winter Haven and Lakeland campus with full
services offered in both locations.
Steps to Apply for Admission
to PCC
-
An
Online Application
for admission to PCC should be submitted to begin your
record. You can enter your application from any
computer. All PCC campuses have computers available in the
Student Services Department. We also invite you to download the
Admission Credentials
forms
which includes supplemental documents for the application
process and a checklist. These may be submitted to PCC via
United States Postal Service or in person. You cannot fax them.
-
The online application for
admission
includes the affidavit of residence. The online application
requires two forms of proof for you or your parent. You
will provide two of the following: a driver's licenses, a
voter's ID card, an automobile registration. Read about
residency at
FACTS.org.
If you need to use alternate documentation for proof of
residency, you may submit it in person at any PCC campus or mail
it to the Registrar and Admission Office at the address above.
Call us at 863-296-1010 Ext 5016 or 6102 for information on
valid alternate documentation.
-
If you
previously attended a Florida college, you
may submit transcript requests
to PCC
electronically
by visiting
FACTS.org
rather than completing a transcript request form found in the
Admission Credentials forms. This is generally a faster method
of submission.
-
Request that official transcripts be sent directly to the
Registrar and Admission Office from the high school or state GED
office and from all colleges attended. These must be received
within three weeks of the application date.
Forms
are available in the
Admission Credentials.
-
Students
whose first language is not English must provide documentation
of English proficiency. See the
International
and Visa Student
section for more details.
-
Transfer
students may need to complete placement testing requirements. All new
PCC degree-seeking and non-degree students with transferable
credits will see an advisor to determine if you should take one,
some or all of the placement tests prior to registering. The
test results are used to place
students in appropriate level courses in English, reading, and math. There is no pass or fail to the tests but it is
important to do your best. For more information on the
College Placement Tests (CPT) go to
CPT Testing.
-
ALL
first time in college applicants will receive a College
Placement Test (CPT)"ticket” along with a letter of acceptance.
The student may also pick up a ticket in the Registrar and
Admission Office located in the Student Services area on the
Lakeland or Winter Haven campuses.
-
Complete
Advising. No appointment is required. Check out the advising section
for hours and more information. Generally you should take the
CPT test prior to seeing an advisor. If you have had any
previous college work, see an advisor first, then take the CPT
test.
-
We recommend you apply for Financial
Aid early. Complete the
FAFSA form online and visit PCC's
Financial Aid page.
