Florida's Bright Futures Scholarship Program rewards the state's high-achieving and hard-working high school graduates. Profits from the state-run lottery games fund the scholarship program.

Within the Bright Futures Scholarship Program there are three types of awards with different criteria. General requirements for scholarship eligibility are listed below.

Standards

 Florida Academic Scholars Award:
  • 100% tuition and fees + a book allowance as follows (per term):
     
    12 credits or more = $187.50
    9-11 credits = $140.63
    6-8 credits = $93.75
     
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per term
  • Does not cover remedial (prep) courses
 
 Florida Merit Scholars Award
  • 100% at a community college or 75% at a university
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per term
  • Does not cover remedial (prep) courses
 Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award
  • 75% tuition and fees
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per term
  • Does not cover remedial (prep) courses
Restrictions to Funding
  • A maximum of 45 semester hours may be funded in one academic year.
  • All credit hours will be paid at the undergraduate rate.
  • No remedial coursework will be funded

  • Bright Futures must be notified of institutional changes by:
 Term 1
August 15th
 Term 2
December 15th
 Term 3
