The TLCC Writing Checklist, is used as a tool to direct the tutoring session. The checklist can be the foundation on which the tutoring sessions are built. The checklist gives the tutor information about the specific assignment as well as an idea what the students feel they need assistance on, at the time of the session. The need for assistance is identified first, which allows the tutor to focus on that aspect of the writing process immediately. The full checklist also provides both the tutor and students with a list of detailed items that are crucial to writing a successful paper such as organization, grammar, mechanics, word choice, etc. The extensive list is a reminder of the many components that should be in an excellent paper.
