Public Services Mission and Purpose Statement
The
Public Services unit of Information Technology Services provides quality information services and instruction for students,
faculty, and staff by developing and delivering reference, Virtual
Library, circulation-reserve, and interlibrary loan services
to support, strengthen, and maintain academic excellence with
a commitment to student success in a timely, courteous, and professional
manner.

Services
(AKA Public Services ) are the people you will most likely come
into contact with when you come to the library. Together they
are known as "Public Services" because that is what
they do - serve the public.

The Circulation staff check
materials in and out, keep track of the Inter-Library Loan requests,
handle reserve items, take care of shelving books, and . . .
Reference Services
The Reference Librarians work
with students, staff, and faculty to meet their specific information
needs. The Reference Librarians provide group orientations, one-on-one
instruction, phone assistance, Distance Learner assistance. .

Development Services Mission and Purpose Statement
The
Development Services unit of Information Technology Services provides information resources and user-friendly access
fro students, faculty, and staff by evaluating, selecting, acquiring,
and organizing materials to support, strengthen, and maintain
academic excellence with a commitment to student success.
These are the folks behind
the scenes. The Development Services staff handle the ordering,
processing, and organizing of all the materials in the PCC libraries.

Developmental Services
Departments
Polk Community College Library
Development Services consists of Collection Development, Acquisitions,
Copy Cataloging, Original Cataloging, Processing, and Serials
Control. Development Services is responsible for database management
of the holdings for both campuses, gathers statistics and reports
on the status of its holdings.
