Course Description:
This course is an introduction to
literature. Students read short stories, novels, poems and plays by noted writers
of American and other world cultures. Through lectures, class discussions, and
films, students aquire a historical perspective of literature, gain knowledge
of literary terms, participate in class discussions about selected works, and
write original compostions about literary topics.

A collection of bibliographic references to literary, scholarly and creative
journals published in the United States and Canada. This database covers over
1,000 journals published from 1975 to the present. This database provides
citation information for articles, essays and reviews, as well as original
creative works including poems and fiction. Photographs, paintings and illustrations
are also referenced.

Indexes and provides excerpts of reviews of current English-language fiction

drawn from thousands of periodicals covered by other WilsonWeb databases.

- MagillOnLiterature Plus (EBSCO) -- Literature Reference
& Periodical Resource - Full Text
Combines the two Magill literary databases -- MagillOnAuthors and MagillOnLiterature
-- into one powerful interface. Includes editorially reviewed critical analyses
and brief plot summaries of the most studied works in the history of literature.
MagillOnAuthors provides access to information on notable authors from 15
complete Salem Press sets containing a total of 62 volumes. The full database
includes 12 volumes from Masterplots, 61 volumes from Masterplots II, the
Cyclopedia of World Authors, the Cyclopedia of Literary Characters, 26 volumes
of Magill’s Literary Annual, Magill’s Guide to Science Fiction
