I
teach the concepts used in the management and operation
of computers as well as the specific skills needed for
a number of pieces of software. My main responsibilities
are to teach computer graphics, multimedia production
and web page construction. I also teach the introduction
and the operating systems classes a couple of times
a year.
I began
working in the computer field in 1977 and became a
fulltime professor in 1999. I worked largely
in the operations area of the data processing profession.
I have some training and experience in programming.
I managed (computer rooms, operations staff, helpdesks),
wrote (instructions sheets, user documentation, technical
documentation), analyzed (workflow, IS processes,
IS procedures) and instructed (documentation, classes).
I worked
in various areas of the computer industry (government,
educational, and private industry) and this has given
me a good look at the real world use of computers.
I bring that real world experience to my classes.
I began
teaching on a part-time basis during the summer of
1984. I’ve taught classes in vocational schools,
private industry and accredited colleges.
