==================================
Welcome!!
I am Hertencia Bowe, Program Manager for Health
Information Management and Coding. I will be your
guide for this exciting journey through the Health
Information Management programs at Polk Community
College! I am licensed as a Registered Health
Information Administrator (RHIA) and a member of the
Central Florida Health Information Management
Association. I have definite plans on pursuing a
doctoral degree in education in the near future.
During
the past five years, I have had a great time working in
the health information management (HIM) field. My
health information management experiences include
medical record coding, project management, HIM
supervision, online course development, online teaching
and HIM consulting. Prior to moving to Florida in
February of 2005, I worked with a hospital in Atlanta, GA as a certified coder for the internal medicine
section. My prior job experiences also include working
as an adjunct instructor within a Health Information
Technology Program. My teaching assignments included;
Introduction to Health Services and Information Systems,
Health Information Processes & Data Applications and
Healthcare Quality.
Outside
of teaching, I enjoy picnics, live music, the theater,
traveling, shopping and exercising.
Please
know that it is my duty to lead students through this
program and help them move forward into a rewarding
career in health information management. Therefore, do
not hesitate to contact me with any question regarding
the HIM programs here at PCC.
I
look forward to meeting you and I hope you find our
website very informative!
