I was born and raised in New York City and have been on the faculty of Polk Community College since 1970 after obtaining my Masters and Doctorate degrees from St. John's University, New York, publishing papers in the Journal of Organic Chemistry (Formation and Structure of Certain Oxazolonium Compounds) and the British journal Tetrahedron (Selective Ring Expansion of Delta-5,10- Octalin-1,6-Diones Via the Schmidt Reaction). I then came down to the sunny climes of Florida.

My wife, Miko, of French extraction, and I presently live in Winter Haven, close to the half dozen grandchildren now in our family. Miko and I have vacationed in France - an especially easy thing to do when one has relatives over there. Needless to say, however, she says I speak French like a Spanish cow.

I have enjoyed teaching chemistry at PCC, anything from Introductory Chemistry through Organic Chemistry. The students are great, the classes just the right size. Advances in technology and computers have opened up doors to me that enable me to really broaden the materials available to me to do a better job - anywhere from working up new laboratory manuals to developing chemistry web pages.

My spare time is devoted to two primary things: graphite portrait drawings and classical guitar, both of which I thoroughly enjoy.

Back in high school, I was asked to draw a lot - things like posters to be placed on walls. Ever since then, I did not bother with art until a few years ago, when I decided to try pencil drawing of portraits. I found it was easy for me to do and I find it very relaxing.

The other area I decided to try was playing classical guitar. When I first came to Florida, I brought an electric guitar with me. I had taken some lessons back home in "popular electric guitar" but was bored with it. When I decided recently to take classical guitar lessons, I realized what a waste of time my lessons on the electric guitar had been. Classical guitar really teaches one how to play the guitar and read sheet music. I highly recommend classical guitar studies for those who may be interested in starting a musical instrument.

I welcome suggestions at the above email address from PCC students as to how to improve on any of the lecture materials to be found on my sites for the individual chemistry classes listed.

Well, as they say in French, "Au Reservoir".
