Supplemental Procedures
Middleton – Fall, 2008
The procedures in the Basic Course Information Document and the procedures below have been established to ensure the optimal educational experience for all students. However, the procedures cannot be expected to anticipate all possible situations. Please consult the instructor if you have a special situation that makes compliance with the procedures difficult or impossible. All reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate special circumstances.
Students whose absences exceed the maximum allowed (three class hours) should expect to be dropped from the roll. However, when there are extenuating circumstances, a student with excess absences should consult with the instructor. Students with excess absences who do not consult with the instructor will be dropped from the roll. In considering special circumstances, ALL absences will be considered. A student will be considered absent if they are not in class when the roll is checked.
All withdrawals (drops) from class will be handled in strict adherence to PCC procedure as contained in your Basic Course Information Document and other pertinent documents. Should a student wish to withdraw from the class on or before the no-fault withdrawal date, it is the student's responsibility to withdraw. A student cannot be withdrawn from class after the no-fault withdrawal date. Students who discontinue attendance in the course after the no-fault withdrawal date will receive a grade of F. Students may petition for relief from these provisions when sufficient extenuating circumstances exist.
Students are not to bring children to class.
No food or drink is allowed in the classroom.
All cell phones, pagers, music players, etc. must be turned off and be out of sight while students are in the classroom. Emergency services personnel (law enforcement, medical, fire, etc.) who are on-call during the class time should make arrangements with the instructor concerning these devices. Headphones of any type cannot be worn in class.
Students are expected to remain in the class until dismissed. Do not leave the classroom while class is in session except for emergencies. A student who leaves the classroom during a test without permission should expect to receive a grade of zero (0) on the test. Students are not permitted to leave the classroom to answer phones, pagers, etc.
Students are not to engage in any activity that would interfere with their ability, or the ability of their classmates, to optimize the classroom learning experience. Examples of such activities are talking in class without permission, communicating with other students in the class without permission, sleeping in class, allowing a cell phone to ring, sending or receiving text messages on cell phones and playing games or accessing the internet on any device.
Students found to be cheating in the class will receive a grade of F for the course. Caps with bills cannot be worn during tests. Sunglasses cannot be worn during tests. Any use of electronic devices during a test, except calculators when allowed, will be considered cheating.
