Title:                       Stuffed Fish

 

Grade Level:          Pre-K – 6

 

Objectives:            Fine motor skill development, color recognition, creativity, recognition of heavy and light objects.

 

Materials:              Lunch bags

                                Markers

                                Construction paper

                                Paper towels (to stuff inside the fish)

                                Glue

                                Stapler

                                Wiggly eyes (optional)

                                Newspaper

 

Procedure:             1.             Fold the closed end of the bag on both sides (in the form of a triangle) to create a point (this is the face).

2.                    Staple the folds to hold them together.

3.                    Decorate both sides of the fish with markers, crayons, etc.

4.                    Cut 3 triangles from construction paper for the fins.

5.                    Glue or staple 1 of the fins on the inside fold on the top and 1 on the bottom of the bag.

6.                    Stuff the fish and fold both sides of the open end together

7.                    Staple or glue the tail together.

8.                    Add  the last triangle for the tail       

 

Evaluation:            Discuss the creation of the fish.   Display the projects on a fishing line with a hook or create a water scene bulletin board.  A good book to read:  THE RAINBOW FISH.  Remark on the variations of colors/different results created by using the same materials.  Each one is different and beautiful just like the student who made it.
