Title:                       Hand Print Christmas Trees

 

Grade Level:          Pre-K – 6

 

Objectives:            Fine/small motor skill development, enhance language skills and cognitive thinking,  creativity, counting, sequencing, following directions

 

Materials:              Green construction paper 9x12”

                                Assorted construction paper scraps

                                Markers, crayons

                               

Procedure:             1.             Fold 3 pieces of green paper in half

2.                    Trace around one hand with a marker or crayon on one of  the folded papers

3.                    Repeat folding and tracing on the other 2 pieces of green paper

4.                    Cut the hands out – there will be 6 hands

5.                    One hand will be the top of the tree, the fingers will be the branches of the tree and should be facing down

6.                    Glue 2 more hands, side by side, to the back of the fingers to create a 2nd row of branches

7.                    Glue the remaining 3 hands to the fingers of the 2nd row to create the bottom of the tree

8.                    Let dry

9.                    Turn the tree over and decorate with markers, crayons, and construction paper

 

Evaluation:            Discuss the creation of the artwork.  Remark on the variations of colors/different results created by using the same materials.  Each one is different and beautiful just like the student who made it.  Display the work.
