Title:                       Fish Murals with Finger Paint and Tissue Paper

 

Grade Level:          Pre-K – 6

 

Objectives:            Fine/small motor skill development, enhance language skills and cognitive thinking, recognition of basic geometric shapes, creativity, following directions

 

Materials:              Wax paper – 9x12”

                                Blue finger paint

                                Tissue paper

                                Glue

                                Construction paper – 9x12” for frame

                               

Procedure:             1.             Discuss the types of fish  that live in water.

2.             Give the students several fish cut from tissue paper or have them create their own fish.

3.               Have the children finger paint on the wax paper.

4.               Have the place the tissue paper fish on the wet paint/water

5.               Make a frame out of the construction paper.

6.           Fold the black construction paper in half and cut out a large rectangle from the folded center for the frame.

7.             Glue the frame to the wax paper.

8.             Allow to dry completely.

                               

 

Evaluation:            Discuss the creation of the artwork.  Remark on the variations of colors/different results created by using the same materials.  Each one is different and beautiful just like the student who made it.  Display the work.
