                                White paper towels/coffee filters

                                Muffin tin or plastic bowls

                                Water

                                Newspaper

Procedure:             1.             Add ¼ cup (50ml) water (reduce for more intense color) to each container/muffin tin.  Add food coloring  (1 color per container ) to water in each container.

2.                    Fold  paper towel/coffee filters into eights or sixteenths.

3.                    Dip one corner of the folded towel into one color; then dip another corner into the 2nd color; finally dip the last corner into the 3rd color.

4.                    Unfold towel and allow to dry completely.

Variation:

1.                    Draw with White crayon on the paper towel before folding and dipping.  The wax will resist the dye and create a surprise.

3.                    Use an eyedropper to apply color.

Evaluation:            Discuss the creation of color.  How was Orange made? Etc.  Display the projects and remark on the variations of colors/different results created by using the same materials.  Each one is different and beautiful just like the student who made it.
