Title: Easter Bunny Magnets
Grade Level: Pre-K – 6
Objectives: Fine motor skill development, decision making, creativity, follows directions
Materials: Tag board/cardboard or 9x12” foam sheet
Cotton Balls
Assorted pipe cleaners
Assorted pom poms
Wiggly eyes
Stick on magnets
Glue/Elmer or white craft glue
Pencil
Scissors
Yarn, Rick rack, felt, ribbon, buttons
Assorted small silk flowers and leaves
Glitter
Sequins
Hole punch
Ribbon
Preparation in advance:
1. Precut bunny shapes for younger children from either cardboard or foam sheet, older children can trace pattern and cut their own shapes
Procedure: 1. Cover table with newspaper
2. Give each child a precut bunny
3. Remove paper backing from Magnets and apply to back side of bunny.
4. Glue on pom pom for nose and wiggly eye for eye.
5. Fold and cut pipe cleaner in half.
6. Fold and cut these pieces in half again.
7. Fold these pieces in half and glue to be the interior of the ears.
8. Starting at the ears, glue cotton balls, working down towards the bottom (stretch the cotton balls before gluing).
9. Glue a large cotton ball for the tail.
10. Tie the ribbon into a bow and glue under the chin.
11. Glue leaves and flowers around bow.
12. Let it dry.
Evaluation: Discuss the designs made and the process. Talk about bunnies and their characteristics. Read a story relating to rabbits. Praise the children’s efforts and their abilities to follow the directions.
