Title:                       Figure Drawing -animals

 

Grade Level:          Pre-K – 6

 

Objectives:            Fine/small motor skill development, enhance language skills and cognitive thinking, recognition of basic geometric shapes, creativity, following directions

 

Materials:              White paper

                                Pencils

                                Markers or crayons

 

Procedure:            

 

1.

Think of the geometric shapes: squares, circles, triangles, ovals, and rectangles.

2.

Use these shapes to draw an animal: circle for the head; square for the torso/body; rectangles for the legs; etc.

3.

Remember that animals have bones in their bodies.  Don’t draw rubber band legs.

4.

Think about proportions. 

 

 

 

 

 

Variation               

 

Evaluation:            Discuss the creation of the artwork.  Remark on the variations of colors/different results created by using the same materials.  Each one is different and beautiful just like the student who made it.  Display the work.
