Admission Requirements
The field of cardiovascular technology has been consistently listed as a high-demand, high-wage, and high-skilled job within the local and national workforces over the past several years. The Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) program at Polk State College has developed programs to address the workforce need.
Two options are available to prospective students:
Associate in Science Degree in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology
No medical experience is required to enter this degree program. This option provides a shortened five-term program that includes general education classes, core CVT courses, and clinical practicum experiences necessary to prepare individuals to work in the field. This program is an ideal option for those interested in establishing a new career in allied imaging and invasive cardiology.
Accelerated Advanced Technical Certificate in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology
Applicants interested in this option must have medical experience. This option provides a three-term program that includes the core CVT courses and clinical practicum experiences required to cross train into the cardiac cath lab. In addition, applicants applying for this program must be graduates from an accredited allied health program with an AS degree in Radiography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, or other approved allied health programs. Applicants must be currently employed in one of the listed medical modalities.
